St. Leonhard (Heldburg)
The listed Gottesackerkirche St. Leonhard is located in Heldburg in the Hildburghausen district in Thuringia .
The cemetery chapel is the third church building in the Heldburg district , along with the town church and the Catholic chapel “Holy Spirit” . After the cemetery was moved to the outskirts, it was built at the end of the 15th century. It was first mentioned in a document in 1497, but was not yet completed at the time.
The church is located in the middle of the cemetery and is popularly called a chapel . Inside there is a simple altar with a lectern and benches. In addition to funeral services, other church events are also carried out.
