St. Margaret's School is a school in Seria , in the Belait district of Brunei .

history

The school was founded in 1955 by Rev. LR Melling, a priest at St. Margaret's Church in Seria near Lorong Tiga . The first classrooms were built in a former vehicle workshop opposite the church. At the beginning there were three classes with 60 children. RE Hales, the Managing Director of the British Malayan Petroleum Company , officially opened the school on April 8, 1956. In 1959 the school moved to its current government-provided location. Melling and the parishioners of St Margaret's Church had established the school for those who wanted English as the language of instruction.

In January 1960 the school expanded to include a secondary school, and in the same year John Heath took over as headmaster. On May 7, 1961, the ARCON Building was opened by PM Linton , then Managing Director of Brunei Shell Petroleum.In November 1962, final exams according to the Brunei Certificate of Education (PMB) were held for the first time and in 1964 the Cambridge School Certificate of Examination was held introduced.

In 1967 a new teaching building was inaugurated by the Bishop of Borneo and a new administration building with a headmaster's apartment was built. Another school building was inaugurated in December 2011.
