The Saint Margarets Bay is an open bay to the south of the Canadian Atlantic -Küste in the province of Nova Scotia . The western coast of the bay is formed by the Aspotogan Peninsula, eastern of the Chebucto Peninsula and the northern coast ultimately belongs to the Nova Scotia peninsula.

The coastline is mostly rocky. Sandy sections are mainly found on the northern coast. Saint Margarets Bay is a popular destination for sailors. It offers considerable coastlines, numerous small islands, and many weather-protected anchorages.

In The Whalesback , a headland about a kilometer from Peggy's Cove, is one of the memorials to the disaster of Swissair Flight 111 . The three notches in the monument symbolize the flight number.

The War Plan Red - a plan developed since 1927 for a possible war against Great Britain - provided for American troops to land in Saint Margarets Bay to occupy Halifax and cut off the British supply line to Canada.
