History and architecture

The church was built from 1963 to 1964 based on designs by the architect Johannes Reuter sen. built in a residential area to the west of the city. The free-standing church tower is structured by openings filled with concrete honeycombs. The elongated ship is covered with a flat hipped roof. The side walls are plastered horizontally in white and gray sections, the end walls are made of concrete honeycomb, they are slightly indented. There is a portal in the porch on the front narrow side.

The large interior appears uniform, the altar wall is windowless, the portal wall is partially illuminated. Narrow bands of light are embedded in the side walls at the height of the ceiling beams. The ceiling beams are supported by rectangular pillars, giving the impression of a three-aisle structure. The wooden ceiling is angled, it hides the beams in the middle. The glazing of the baptistery and the side windows were made to designs by Franz Heilmann. The interior was repainted in 1995 according to plans by Paul Nagel.
