The Protestant town church St. Marien is on the church square in the town of Ronneburg in the district of Greiz in Thuringia .

history

The church is said to have existed as early as 1237. In 1665 it fell victim to a major fire and was rebuilt by 1666. In the sacristy , the oldest surviving part of the church, there is a cross vault . In 1876 the house got a loading gas organ .

The approximately 30-meter-high late Gothic tower with its eight-sided tower crown is the city's landmark. Its upper part was demolished and rebuilt from 1987 to 1989. In the years 1990 to 1997 and 2013 further repairs took place inside and outside.

The belfry was renovated in 2008.
