The Church of St. Martha

The Catholic parish church of St. Martha in the Niedernhausen district of Engenhahn was built in the years 1890/91 in the west of the village. It was planned by Alois Vogt, a teacher at the construction school in Idstein . It was created on the initiative of the Idstein pastor Schilo, who, like for the construction of the Magdalenenkirche in Idstein, collected donations around the world in order to finance the construction of the church. In addition, the parish did its own work. So far, only an "emergency chapel" was set up in Engenhahn town hall.

Until 1924 the church only served as a chapel. In 1963 the parish was established. In both world wars, the church lost its bells due to melting, and they were replaced afterwards.
