The church

The Protestant village church of St. Martin is in the district of Roben of the independent city of Gera in Thuringia . It belongs to the parish Bad Köstritz and Roben in the parish of Gera of the Evangelical Church in Central Germany .

history

The single-nave, partly still medieval church with retracted choir tower was mentioned for the first time between 1729 and 1731 when the octagonal tower end with curved dome and lantern was built .

Between 1899 and 1900 the building was converted to its present-day appearance. Staircases on the north and south sides as well as the addition of a patronage box to the choir are the most striking additions. The last refurbishment took place from 1949 to 1950. Due to the severe dilapidation of the church, extensive renovations are in progress.
