St. Pancras en Joriskerk
The St. Pancras en Joriskerk ( German Sankt-Pankraz-und-Georgs-Kirche ) in the small town of 's-Heerenberg , today part of the municipality of Montferland in the Dutch province of Gelderland , is right next to the famous Huis Bergh moated castle . The church building of the Protestant Church in the Netherlands must not be confused with the Roman Catholic and neo-Gothic Pancratiuskerk at the north end of the market in the same place.
The St. Pancras en Joriskerk consists of the transept and the very short and irregular nave of a Gothic brick church built in several stages between the 13th and 15th centuries . After heavy destruction in 1568 ( Eighty Years War ) and 1603, the parts that were still usable were restored as a place of worship. Remnants of the tower and choir disappeared at the beginning of the 19th century.
