St. Peter (Essen-Nordviertel)
St. Peter's Church is a former Roman Catholic church in Essen's northern district . It was built from 1926 to 1927.
history
The architect of the church in the style of brick expressionism was Josef Thurn. On the north side there was a side entrance with an ashlar frame, in the west there was a retracted vestibule behind high rectangular arcade openings with triangular ends.
The church suffered severe war damage. Emil Jung directed the reconstruction in 1951 and 1952 . The tower ruin was blown up in 1956. In 1957 the church building received a new bell tower. It came from Engelbert Köjer. The church has since been closed as a parish church. In 2008, after a renovation, the Catholic School for Nursing Professions in Essen moved in . The bell tower was laid down in 2014.
On December 9, 1993, the church building was placed under monument protection.
