history
The church was completed in the middle of the 15th century. It replaced an old Romanesque church from the 12th century in the same place. In 1634 the church was destroyed in a fire and the interior was renovated with ornaments in the Baroque style. In 1791 the church burned down again and was rebuilt a short time later. During the Napoleonic Wars at the beginning of the 19th century, the church was used as a military hospital. In 1884 the interior of the church was renovated and redesigned in the neo-Gothic style .
During the Second World War the church was badly damaged. An estimated 40 percent of the church building was destroyed by bombs. Between 1952 and 1953 the church was reconstructed true to the original and regained its Gothic appearance.
The church has a width of 14 m and a length of 24 m.
