In 1552 the deanery under Count Günther XI. von Schwarzburg Protestant, the monastery was also secularized . Remnants of the canon monastery still exist . The stones from the monastery and collegiate church were used as building material for houses in Jechaburg and Sondershausen.
The current small collegiate church was built on the corner of the old monastery tower that is still preserved today . The church is in need of renovation including church bells and electrical connections. The ringing of bells could cause damage.
