The St. Pius Church in the Haunstetten district of Augsburg was built in 1964/65 according to plans by the Würzburg architect Hans Skull . On September 4, 1966, the parish church of Bishop Josef Stimpfle was placed under the patronage of Pope Pius X , who was canonized in 1954 .

Panorama of the interior

The floor plan of the church is square with a side length of 28 meters each and is oriented diagonally to the southeast. The tower has a height of 22 meters.

In 1967 the church received its first colored glass window with the Apocalyptic Lamb, the design comes from Franz Nagel . The west window with the motifs of the Passion of Christ was designed by Franz Bernhard Weißhaar in 1986/88. The large window on the north wall, the so-called Pentecost window, which was also designed by Weißhaar, dates from 1997.

Under the tower, which is open to the church, is the baptistery with the baptismal font and a way of the cross on ceramic tiles. The Way of the Cross and the twelve apostle carpets in the main room of the church were designed by Sister Regina Holzhauser. In the chancel there is a carpet of the Virgin Mary and a modern icon of Mary Magdalene.
