The St. Sebastianus Schützenbruderschaft Nörvenich 1408 eV is one of the oldest rifle brotherhoods in North Rhine-Westphalia in Nörvenich , Düren district .

Even before the current Rifle Brotherhood was founded, there has been evidence of a Quirinus Rifle Brotherhood since 1340 .

In 1408 the Brotherhood of the Holy Five Virgins was founded in Nörvenich . From this came the Sebastianus Rifle Brotherhood . The bailiff Wilhelm von Vlatten is named in 1419 as the riflemen in command. In 1442 all conscripts were drafted. In the order of the official duties in the office of Nörvenich from 1447 the duties of the rifle brotherhood are also listed. Between 1586 and 1596, the Duke of Jülich issued several edicts that regulate the protection of the borders and the establishment of night watch. In addition, the jumps had to be occupied by the shooters. In 1631 there were 282 riflemen in action. Despite the efforts of the Rifle Brotherhood against the incursion of the French troops, the village was almost completely destroyed. The place was successfully defended against the Spaniards in 1707.

After the First World War , the Rifle Brotherhood was re-established in 1920 with 98 men. In 1936 the brotherhood was dissolved by the National Socialists . She was forcibly integrated into the National Socialist Reichsbund for physical exercises . After the American invasion in April 1945, all weapons had to be surrendered.

In 2006, eleven women and six girls were accepted into the Rifle Society for the first time in 598 years. In 2008 and 2018, the brotherhood hosted the federal rifle festival.
