St. Sophia (Erbach)
The Catholic parish church of St. Sophia is a listed church building on the main street of the southern Hessian district town of Erbach (Odenwald) . The sacred building was built in 1842/43 based on designs by the builder Sylvester Stockh (1774–1855) on a plot of land that had been donated to the community by Count Eberhard zu Erbach-Erbach . The church was dedicated to the martyr Sophia of Rome .
The simple plastered building has a bell tower in front with a square floor plan, which is eight-sided above the roof and ends with an octagonal pointed helmet . The facade is by stone - arches divided.
In the garden of the church there is a statue of St. Joseph from 1891, which originally stood in the second, now destroyed Catholic school on Martin-Luther-Straße.
