St. Stephanus (Großenviecht)
St. Stephanus is the church of Großenviecht, a district of the municipality of Langenbach in the Freising district . The church is part of the parish of St. Martin in Marzling . The baroque hall with a rectangular choir and a tower adjoining it to the east with an onion dome is entered in the list of monuments.
The church was built from 1730, the builder was probably Johann Lorenz Hirschstötter . The 26.8 m high tower was not completed until 1859 after construction was interrupted.
The main altar is dedicated to St. Stephen . A painting of St. Stephen and a smaller painting of St. Isidore , both probably made around 1900, decorate the altar. There are also depictions of St. Lawrence and St. Barbara . Two side altars are dedicated to Mary and Joseph . While the Joseph figure also dates from around 1900, the figure of Mary is much older and was created in the 15th century.
The tower originally housed two bells . After the larger of the two had to be delivered in the Second World War in order to melt it down, a new bell was made at the end of the war. In 1946 the old bell was unexpectedly returned.
