history

In 1619, a transverse wing was added as a mansion to the existing moated castle in Venhaus. This new building later served as a chapel. While the castle was almost completely destroyed in the Thirty Years' War , the chapel was somewhat preserved. At the end of the 17th century, the former manor house was converted into a church. In the tower of the church there is a three-part ringing of bronze bells from the Otto bell foundry in Bremen-Hemelingen. The bells were cast in 1948. The disposition of the bells is: g sharp '- b' - c sharp '. The bell has a total weight of 1175 kg.

On November 1, 1973, St. Vitus Venhaus became a curate of the parish of St. John the Baptist in Spelle.
