Emory Sherwood Adams (born February 6, 1881 in Manhattan , Kansas , † November 30, 1967 in Monterey , California ) was an American major general in the US Army .

Life

Adams was a member of the 20th Kansas Infantry and Regular Army between 1898 and 1902 and was accepted into the US Army as an infantry officer in October 1902. In the following years it was used in the Philippines and China and took part in the First World War in France . He was awarded the Army Distinguished Service Medal for his military service there . He then transferred to the staff of the Adjutant General added, the highest administrative officer in the Chief of Staff of the Army ( Chief of Staff of the Army ) . Promoted to Lieutenant Colonel (Lieutenant-Colonel) on January 2, 1926, he was between 1927 and 1933 Assistant Adjutant General for the IV. Corps (IV Corps) and subsequent 1933-1936 Assistant Adjutant General for the IX. Corps (IX Corps) . His marriage to Elies Yeates Adams gave birth to his son Emory Sherwood "Hank" Adams, Jr., who took part as an officer in the US Army in World War II, the Korean War and the Vietnam War and was most recently promoted to colonel. After his death, Emory Sherwood Adams was buried in the San Francisco National Cemetery .
