St. Wenceslas Church

The Church of St. Wenceslas of Zderaz ( Kostel sv. Václava na Zderaze ) is a church building in the Czech capital, Prague .

It was laid out in the 12th century as the parish church of the village of Zderaz by the Hrabischitz family and was handed over to the Order of the Protectors of the Divine Tomb , who are also known as the Lords of the Cross with the double red cross , in the 13th century at the latest .

Remains of the wall of the Romanesque nave and the church tower are still visible in the front. In connection with the elevation to the castle church, a Gothic reconstruction of the church took place before 1399. In the presbytery, fragments of Gothic wall paintings from around 1400 (representation of the root of Jesse ?) Have been preserved. It was not until 1586/87 that the two ships received star vaults. The choir and sacristy are early baroque (17th century). In 1909 and 1926 the church was regotized.

The church is one of the parish and cemetery churches in the New Town of Prague . It has been used by the Czechoslovak Hussite Church since 1927 .
