St Columba's Church

The St Columba's Church , formerly St James Church is a church building of the Presbyterian Church of Scotland in the Scottish city of Kilmacolm in Inverclyde . In 1971 the building was included in the Scottish List of Monuments in the highest category A. The church is still in use as such.

St Columba's Church is located in downtown Kilmacolm on Duchal Road . It dates from 1903 and was built to a design by the important architect William Leiper , who designed numerous structures in the Central Lowlands . Before the merger of two parishes in 1957, it was called St James Church . The masonry of the neo-Gothic church consists of natural stone carved into stone blocks. The entrance area is in the bell tower to the northwest. The roofs are covered with slate shingles.
