The St George Wharf Tower is a skyscraper , which the tallest residential building in London is.

Architecture and design

A wind turbine will be installed at the top of the building to feed the lighting. A heat pump heater is used for heating. A triple glazing minimizes heat loss in winter and overheating in summer.

construction

Phases :

  • Construction started in September 2009.
  • In September 2011 the construction of the glass facade for the previously built floors began, in October the 1st and 2nd floors were completed.
  • In October 2011, the building reached the 22nd floor.
  • In March 2012 the building reached the 44th floor.

accident

At 8 a.m. on January 16, 2013, a helicopter collided with the construction crane at St George Wharf Tower and crashed onto a busy street. Two people, including the helicopter pilot, died.
