St Machar's (Aberdeen)
The St Machar's Cathedral is a church of the Church of Scotland in Aberdeen , Scotland . It is located north of today's city center in the old town (Old Aberdeen). From a formal point of view, the building is not a cathedral, since it has no longer served as a bishopric since 1690, but a so-called " High Kirk ". Its foundation is attributed to Saint Machar , who is said to have evangelized the region around Aberdeen in the 6th century.
