The State Vocational School for Economics and Social Affairs Altenburg (short: WiSo ) is a vocational school in the East Thuringian Skat and residence town of Altenburg and is sponsored by the Altenburger Land district .

location

The school is located on Platanenstrasse in the southeast part of the city and consists of two buildings and a gym.

history

The United Merchants' Union of Altenburg decided in 1864 to set up a business school. The first school was located at Johannisstrasse 31 and opened in 1865. The premises quickly became too small, so that a new school was built in Zeitzer Straße in 1866. Less than 40 years later, the school moved to Dostojewskistraße 14, then Wilhelmstraße, in 1905. In 1935 the building was extended. From 1909 to 1923 the facility was called the Chamber of Commerce's Commercial College . It was subordinated to the state of Thuringia in 1923 and thus nationalized. From 1924 girls were also trained. After the end of the war the school was temporarily closed and reopened in January 1946 as the Altenburg commercial vocational school . In 1949 the name was changed to Vocational School for Business and Administration . After 1990 the old school building was too small, so that several buildings in Altenburg were used. Among them was one on Münsaer Strasse, two on Darwinstrasse and the Ernestinum by the Brothers Church . In 1997 the Altenburg School for Social Pedagogy was closed and incorporated into the Commercial Vocational School. Since then, the institution has been called the State Vocational School for Economics and Social Affairs Altenburg . The former plane high school in Platanenstrasse 3 has been used as a school building since 2004 , so the locations in Münsaer and Dostojewskistrasse were closed. The school was finally merged into one location in 2007, when the home economics training moved from the former technical center in Darwinstraße to Platanenstraße.
