history

In 1913 the Department of Fisheries at the Moscow Agricultural Institute was established. In 1946 the company moved to Kaliningrad , into the building of the former regional and district court (Königsberg) and converted into the Kaliningrad Technical Institute for Fish Industry and Farming. In the course of its 60-year existence, the institute has developed into a university with a strong technical character, but also with natural, economic and social science references. In 1994 the name was changed to the current name.

There are now eight faculties , three non-facultative centers and five affiliated institutes - including the German-speaking European Institute Klaus Mehnert under the direction of the German scientist Winfried Böttcher , which offers a one-year postgraduate European course.
