The Gori State Pedagogical University , also: Gori Teaching University , ( Ossetian გორის სახელმწიფო სასწავლო უნივერსიტეტი ) is a university founded in 2007 in Gori , the capital of the Inner Kartli region in central Georgia .

history

Forerunner was a teacher training college, which was founded on September 12, 1876 in Gori. In August 1935 a university was started with a two-year training program and continued in 1939 as the “State Pedagogical Institute Nikolos Barataschwili ” in Gori with four-year study programs. In 1985 the university was reformed and renamed the “Gori State Economic Institute”. In 1997 the company was renamed the “State Institute for Economic and Humanities Gori”. On July 16, 1999, the college gained university status.

The "State Pedagogical Institute Tskhinvali" was founded in 1932 in Tskhinvali . Initially only as an agricultural science faculty, further educational and scientific departments followed. After the Georgian-Ossetian conflict in 1991, the headquarters of the university was relocated to Gori. On June 16, 2000, the college gained university status.

organization

Since 2007 the university has been a merger of the two institutes LEoPL - Gori State University and LEoPL - Tskhinvali State University with government resolution # 176 of August 22, 2007. In 2011/12, it was reorganized and renamed the “Gori State Pedagogical University”.
