The English title state electrician (English, literally State electrician ) was at the beginning of the 20th century in parts of the USA in use as a euphemism for the executor of an electrocution , so an execution by the electric chair .

The first state electrician was Edwin Davis in the US state of New York . He carried out the execution of William Kemmler , the first man to be killed by the electric chair. Davis also carried out the first death sentence to be carried out on a woman using the electric chair, Martha M. Place . He also dealt with the further development of the functions of the electric chair.
