State park
A state park ( English State Park , Spanish Parque Estado , Portuguese Parque Estadual ) designates in several countries areas with a natural or cultural monument character that have been placed under special protection by the governments of a federal state . The corresponding protected areas in Canada are called Provincial Park or Territorial Park and are subordinate to the provinces and territories . Apart from the fact that they are not under federal control, they differ from national parks in that they are generally much smaller and play a rather subordinate role for tourism.
Australia
Most of the Australian national parks are under state administration. In addition, however, some states designate state parks that have less protection.
Brazil
Almost all states in Brazil have designated state parks that, although belonging to one or more municipalities, are no longer administrated. Examples of state parks in Brazil are the Parque Estadual da Costa do Sol in Rio de Janeiro or Parque das Dunas in Natal .
Germany
In Germany, national parks are designated by the respective state government and thus roughly correspond to a state park. Parks of the state administrations of some countries are also referred to as state parks, e.g. B. the State Park Fürstenlager in Hesse.
