The State Secretariat for International Financial Matters SIF ( French Secrétariat d'Etat aux questions financières internationales SFI , Italian Segreteria di Stato per le questioni finanziarie internazionali SFI , Romansh Secretariat da stadi per dumondas finanzialas Internaziunalas SFI ) is a specialist authority of the Swiss Confederation . It is an office of the Swiss federal administration subordinate to the Federal Department of Finance (FDF) and has existed since March 1, 2010. The headquarters of the SFI is the Bernerhof in the federal city of Bern .

The SIF protects Switzerland 's interests in international financial , tax and currency matters . It promotes international competitiveness and the integrity of the Swiss financial center, access to foreign financial markets and the stability of the Swiss financial sector.

The State Secretariat for International Financial Matters SIF is responsible for the coordination and strategic management in international financial, currency and tax matters. To pursue its goals, the SIF has the following functions:

  • Strengthening Switzerland's international position in the financial and tax sectors
  • Safeguarding Switzerland's interests in key bodies such as the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and the Financial Stability Board (FSB)
  • Participate in international efforts to combat financial crime and counter terrorism
  • Analysis of developments in the financial markets in Switzerland and abroad
  • Further development of the legislation (legislative) for the financial sector
