Chief of Staff of the Salvation Army

The Chief of Staff of the Salvation Army is an officer appointed by the general with the rank of commander, who u. a. his deputy is. The Chief of Staff is based at the International Headquarters (IHQ) of the Salvation Army in London . The post of chief of staff was established in 1880 by William Booth , founder and 1st general of the Salvation Army. The first officer in this position was his son Bramwell in 1881 . The Chief of Staff invites all Salvation Army officers with the rank of Commander and all Territorial Heads of the Salvation Army to form the High Council to elect a new general. General André Cox appointed Commander William Roberts as the 25th Chief of Staff of the Salvation Army effective October 1, 2013.
