Stacy Sykora (born June 24, 1977 in Fort Worth , Texas ) is an American volleyball player .

Career

Sykora attended Burleson High School until 1995 . From 1996 to 1999 she played volleyball at Texas A&M University . From 2000 to 2012 she was - with interruptions - active in various foreign clubs, mainly in Italy.

The Libera was most successful with the US national team , with which they took part in the Olympic Games three times and won the silver medal in Beijing in 2008 . At the 2002 World Cup in Germany, Libera came second. In 2003 and 2007 Sykora won the bronze medal at the World Cup . At the World Grand Prix she won the gold medal with the team in 2001 and 2010 and the bronze medal in 2003 and 2004. Sykora has received numerous individual awards, including a. Best Libera at the 2010 World Cup in Japan . Due to severe head injuries after a bus accident in Brazil in 2011, Sykora missed the 2012 Olympic Games and had to retire in December 2012.
