The Stadhuis is the former town hall of Geervliet ( municipality of Nissewaard ) in the Dutch province of South Holland . The building is Rijksmonument under number 9364.

history

The oldest parts of the Stadhuis go back to the medieval Gasthuiskapel (German: Hospitalskapelle), which was donated by Beatrijs van Putten in 1346 . Today this Gothic building stock can still be recognized by a tracery window on the west and east side of the building.

The chapel served as the town hall from the beginning of the 16th century and was raised by one floor in 1633. The building was expanded in the 17th and 18th centuries. In the course of a renovation in 1964/66, the dome tower was restored in the style of the 17th century.
