The stadium pool is an indoor pool in Hanover . It is located in the Sportpark Hannover in the Calenberger Neustadt next to the HDI-Arena (formerly Lower Saxony Stadium) and got its name because of its proximity to the stadium.

description

The stadium pool is by far the largest indoor pool in the city and region of Hanover . It was built in 1972 as one of the most modern swimming pools in Germany.

It has a 50 × 21 m swimming pool, from which the rear 17 × 15 m can be separated by a foldable underwater wall. In this area there is a competition jumping facility with a 1-meter board, a 3-meter tower and a large diving tower with elevator and jumping platforms at heights of 5 m, 7.5 m and 10 m. The pool under the diving board is 4.80 m deep and is also used for diving and underwater sports. At the end of the swimming pool there are 22 underwater windows almost two meters deep across the full width, through which you can observe the diving area from a basement.

In addition, the stadium pool has a 26 × 12.75 m non-swimmer pool with a depth of between 0.80 m and 1.30 m and a small paddling area for babies.

Further facilities of the stadium pool are two gallery-like grandstands for 400 spectators, a large cafeteria with glass windows facing the swimming pool, a large video display board, a sauna with plunge pool, an approx. 5,000 m² lawn area with a play city for children in the outdoor area, which is used as a lawn and various other pool-typical offers such as heated benches, slides, massage jets, water mushrooms, solariums and table tennis tables.

The repeatedly modernized facility is the leading pool in the region for swimming competitions and is used for sports such as water polo , diving and the like. Major events take place on a national and international level on a regular basis. Among other things, the water polo Bundesliga club Waspo 98 Hannover regularly plays games in the Champions League there.

For everyday sport, it is the city of Hanover's leading pool in terms of visitor numbers. It can provide the largest area for school and club sports and is therefore of central importance for the city and region.

For the 2006 World Cup , the pool was temporarily converted into a press center and used by journalists from all over the world to report on matches in the neighboring stadium.

In 2016, the 44-year-old bathroom was extensively renovated, for which it should close from the beginning of June to the end of November. However, due to delays, the bathroom did not open until mid-January 2017. Further waves of renovations are to follow in the following years.
