The city archives Solothurn is the city archives of the city of Solothurn in the Swiss canton of Solothurn .
The period covers approx. 1830 until today; the older documents of the city state of Solothurn are archived in the state archive of the canton of Solothurn . The city archive is a member of the Association of Swiss Archivists and is listed in the ISplus collection of information on Swiss memory institutions.
Duration
The city archive mainly consists of an old inventory of administrative documents from the city, which had been deposited in the Solothurn Central Library since 1969 . In 2011, the old stock was gradually transferred to the former Hermesbühl medical aid station, which was converted into an archive storage facility. The archive also contains various deliveries from municipal administrative departments that have been sent to the city archive since 2011, as well as smaller collections of associations and foundations. In total, the Solothurn City Archive comprises around 231 linear meters of files, including numerous photographs, 1,700 plans and around 15 GB of data.
Development, preservation and brokering
The indexing is the task of an external archive service provider. The archive directory, which also contains digital objects, has been accessible online since 2016. The archive materials are stored in the immediate vicinity of the Solothurn Central Library and the State Archives on Hermesbühl. The central library is, in a reinterpretation of a contract from 1969, responsible for the use on behalf of the city of Solothurn.
