The St. Pölten City Library is a public library in St. Pölten in Austria. It is the city ​​library of the city of St. Pölten, which is also its owner.

The new headquarters, which opened in 2006, is located at Prandtauerstraße 7 , and there are also three branches (as of 2013) that are each open one day a week ( the southern branch at Kranzbichlerstraße 18 and Matthias-Corvinus-Straße 5 the north branch and a branch in Eisenbahnerstraße 5 in Spratzern ). Borrowings are chargeable, except for children and young people up to the age of 15.

The holdings include fiction books, non-fiction books, children's books, magazines as well as CD-ROMs , DVDs and audiovisual media . Digital media such as e-books , e-audios and e-videos can also be borrowed via the e-media lending of Lower Austrian libraries ( noe-book.at ) .

The old headquarters were located at Wiener Straße 27 until 2006, and in 2008 some branches of the city library were closed. In 2002 they had around 80,000 books and 20,000 other media (such as videos, music tapes, and magazines). The number of readers rose in the same year by 1,415 to 5,893. The number of loans decreased and amounted to 282,827. Of this, 109,263 were allocated to the head office with 2,256 readers, 40,057 to the branch south with 830 readers and 27,366 to the branch north. Rudolf Windhör was the head of the city library from 1979 to the end of 2011; Christine Nusterer has been the director since the beginning of 2012.
