Gordan Nikolitch

Gordan Nikolitch (also Gordan Nikolić , Serbian - Cyrillic Гордан Николић , * 1968 ) is a Serbian violinist. He is concertmaster of the London Symphony Orchestra .

Life

Gordan Nikolitch started playing the violin at the age of seven. He studied with Jean-Jacques Kantorow at the Basel Conservatory . He also worked with Witold Lutosławski and György Kurtág . He was particularly interested in contemporary and baroque music .

He took part in various competitions as a violinist and won a prize at the Tibor Varga Competition, the Paganini Prize in Genoa , the City of Brescia Competition and the Vaclav Huml Competition in Prague .

Since 1989 he has directed various orchestras in France, Great Britain and Switzerland. Since 2004 he has been the artistic director of the Nederlands Kamerorkest in Amsterdam . In 2000 he was named Prince Consort Professor for strings at the Royal College of Music , London , and since 2003 he has been a professor at the Guildhall School of Music .

He plays a violin by Giuseppe Guarneri and one by Lorenzo Storioni from 1794.
