Lorenzo Storioni
Lorenzo Storioni (born November 10, 1744 in Cremona ; † January 10, 1816 there ) was an Italian violin maker .
Life
Along with Giovanni Battista Guadagnini and Tommaso Balestrieri, Lorenzo Storioni was one of the most important Cremonese masters of the late 18th century. His violins are based on models from Guarneri del Gesù . The productive period was probably between 1770 and 1804. Although he used less good woods and varnishes, soloists Storionis appreciate violins above all for their powerful, open and radiant tone. Giovanni Battista Ceruti , Giovanni Rota and Giovanni Francesco Pressenda are counted among his students, although it is not documented for the latter.
novel
The novel The Silence of the Collector by the Catalan author Jaume Cabré , published in 2011, revolves around the fictional story of a Storioni violin through the centuries.
