City chapel Oberndorf

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Stadtkapelle Oberndorf (formerly Marktmusikkapelle Oberndorf ) is a band organized on a club basis and based in Oberndorf near Salzburg .

history

The chapel has its origins in the profession of Salzach boatmen, which had a rich tradition in Oberndorf due to its location on the Salzach . Since the shipping could only be operated in the warmer season, the boatmen were active in theater and music in the colder season. In the Oberndorfer Heimathaus there is a wooden model from 1650 depicting a boatman's wedding with two musicians.

The year the town band of Oberndorf was founded is 1775. The first Kapellmeister to be named are a Pfeiffenberger around 1871, Anton Brandstädter around 1879 and J. Niederstätter around 1881. Around the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries. In the 19th century the names Diftl and Härtl appear.

Over the years, made some renaming of the musicians union: From Bürgermusik the ensemble in 1934 on local music renamed, from 1972 to April 28, 2001 was the club name Marktmusikkapelle Oberndorf . This was followed by the renaming of the town band Oberndorf .

During the Second World War , the number of musicians had dropped to six, so that the game had to be suspended. The rebuilding of the band began at Easter 1946. In 1972, the association was reorganized under the leadership of Andreas Kinzl.

With the construction of the main school gymnasium in 1979, an adequate rehearsal room could be set up in the basement, which, however, no longer met the increasing requirements over the years. After great effort and personal contribution by the members of the association under the leadership of chairman Peter Hufnagl and the support of the market town of Oberndorf, the new rehearsal room and lounge on the first floor of the newly built building yard in Joseph-Mohr-Strasse was opened on October 31, 1999.

On the occasion of round existing anniversaries, large, multi-day festivals were held every 25 years, most recently in 2000 under the title “225 Years of the Oberndorf Market Music Band”.

Furnishing

There are two types of clothing for the Oberndorf band, namely a traditional costume (black shoes, gray socks , black knee breeches , red waistcoat, gray skirt and black hat), which is based on the work clothing of the Salzach boatmen, and the boatmen's guard uniform (long white trousers, red Skirt, black hat with plume, white leather belt), which is worn during corporate deployments with the ship's rifle corps.
