The museum in the old armory is the city ​​museum in Bad Radkersburg in Styria . The armory is a listed building .

Armory

The armory was built in 1588 with the master builder Karl Marbl at the same time as a provision house. The two buildings were structurally connected by courtyards. In the inner courtyard there are two storeys of Tuscan arcades. In 1639 a reconstruction took place with Simon Valnegro. The rustikaportal is from the 17th century. The main façade with two side 3/8 bay porches was redesigned in 1798 and the armory was renewed.

The town museum has a remarkable collection of guild chests owned by the township. The city judge's sword from 1564 with various city insignia and judge tools has also been preserved. A Celtic-Illyrian Negau helmet was assigned to the 2nd to 1st century BC. Collection activity began in the 1920s. In 1953, the city acquired the Austrian state estates' equipment and provisions house . The museum was opened in 1955. The obsolescence of the design led in the 1990s to an order from students at the University of Kassel under the direction of the historian Karl Stocker for a new concept. The reopening took place in May 1998 with the name Museum in the old armory .
