The town square on Glambecker Ring is a town square in the Marzahn district of Berlin that was created until 2010 . It is connected to the green corridor on Ahrensfelder Berg .
history
On the area of the demolished 45th municipal day-care center (Kita) a new town square was built on Glambecker Ring between June and November 2010 as part of the urban redevelopment east . The district office involved the residents of the area in the preparation. In the final design according to the adapted plans by landscape architect Birgit Engelhardt, gardeners replaced some of the trees in the previous daycare center that were no longer stable with new, more durable ones. Some shrub plantings were also renewed and completely new lawns were created. The paths on the entire town square were given granite step plates. With its central design, the square is reminiscent of Countdown 2010 , an initiative to preserve biodiversity .
Among other things, 27 plate motifs of protected plants and animals were embedded in the floor of the town square center. A surrounding flower meadow serves to preserve biodiversity. On May 4th, 2011, the District Councilor for Education, Culture and Real Estate, Stephan Richter, handed over the newly designed town square on Glambecker Ring to the residents.
