The Stadtwerke Herford GmbH is a municipal utility and service companies in the East Westphalian town of Herford . The owner is the city of Herford (via HVV GmbH). The municipal utilities are active in the fields of electricity, gas, drinking water and heating. The Herford outdoor pools, the H2O and the ice rink are operated by subsidiaries .
Company history
In 1864 the gas supply started by the "Städtische Gasversorgung Herford". The water supply was added just two years later. In 1983 the company "Stadtwerke Herford" was converted into a corporation "Stadtwerke Herford GmbH" as a 100 percent subsidiary of the city of Herford. At the same time, this was the hour of birth of HVV GmbH - Herford Versorgungs- und Verkehrs-Beteiligungs-GmbH - as a 100 percent subsidiary of the city of Herford. Stadtwerke Herford has also been selling electricity since 2010.
