AVG Cologne GmbH

As a predominantly municipal company with private participation, AVG Köln GmbH initially had the task of implementing the infrastructure of recycling and disposal systems provided for in the city of Cologne's waste management concept . For this purpose, AVG Köln GmbH founded companies in the early years together with private waste disposal companies for the sorting and recycling of mixed construction and commercial waste as well as for the composting of biogenic waste. At the same time, she started planning the composting plant and the residual waste incineration plant.

At the beginning of 1998, AVG Köln GmbH also took over the operation of the United Ville landfill on behalf of the City of Cologne. After the restructuring of the plant operation, the landfill in Erftstadt / Liblar was prepared for the transition from a municipal waste landfill to an inert material landfill , as the legislature has prescribed for all of Germany since June 1, 2005. Since then, only pre-treated waste with little or no organic content has been allowed to be deposited.

On December 22nd, 2009, AVG Köln GmbH took over the sorting and recycling of mixed construction waste, commercial waste and biological waste. A year and a half later, the administration and processing of business transactions for the mixed construction waste and commercial waste sectors were bundled and merged to make them more effective. Sales activities were concentrated and improved with the aim of offering recycling and disposal services from a single source in order to strengthen the position in the waste market.

In order to document more clearly to the outside that the individual companies act as a group of companies, the subsidiaries were renamed on April 1, 2014. Since then they have been called AVG Resource GmbH and AVG Kompostierung GmbH.
