The Stadtwerke Olching GmbH was founded in 2009 under the name of energy supply Olching GmbH and received the same year the concession to take over the power grid of the former town Olching (since 2011 city Olching). At the same time, the newly founded GmbH took over the sales of gas and electricity in Olching, the neighboring districts and in some cases nationwide with a focus on renewable energy sources and electricity from combined heat and power generation.

The company is majority owned by the city of Olching. Stadtwerke Schwäbisch Hall GmbH is co-partner .

Stadtwerke Olching GmbH attaches great importance to sustainability, especially with the use of sustainable systems and machines as well as the procurement of renewable electricity and the expansion of district heating. In 2011 the municipal utilities took over the district heating network, which is constantly being expanded and supplied. At the end of 2018, four charging stations for electric vehicles were built in the city, making it one of the first operators of charging infrastructure.

In 2009, with the help of Stadtwerke Schwäbisch Hall as a strategic partner, Energieversorgung Olching GmbH was founded. The goal at that time was to take over the power grid that the then municipality of Olching transferred to the new company as a concession. The company thus started selling electricity and natural gas. In October 2014, the name was changed to Stadtwerke Olching GmbH. The company also supports numerous pilot projects for renewable energies. So were u. a. Photovoltaic systems have already been put into operation at the Olching primary school and the Geiselbullach fire brigade.
