The stagebox is a distribution box with plug connections for electrical signals in the areas of sound and lighting technology . Its task is to separate signals previously transported by cable bundles ( multicore ) into clearly identifiable individual plug connections. The purpose of the stage box, in combination with multicores and cable whips, is to improve the user-friendliness of complex cabling and plug connections in sound systems, especially in the professional audio sector.

Stage boxes usually have the shape of a metal housing with several sockets (usually in the XLR format ). They are typically used on the stage for events. The audio signal cables of the microphones , amplifiers, DI boxes and other devices distributed on the stage are plugged into the sockets of the stage box .

The stage box represents the transition point between the stage cabling and the multicore cable, which connects the signal sources to a mixer .

Some stage boxes are permanently mounted on the multicore, others are connected to one or more multicores via special connectors ( Harting , VEAM , Tourlock ), which allows more flexible use. A special case are cable drums in which a stage box is integrated.
