The STAMAG Stadlauer Malzfabrik GesmbH has its headquarters in Vienna , Austria , is since 1973 Ireks Group , a company in the food industry with headquarters in Kulmbach, Germany. As the largest Austrian commercial malt house, STAMAG Stadlauer Malzfabrik GesmbH produces around 175,000 t of malt annually. The company is also active in the baking ingredients division for bakers and confectioners and supplies the Austrian market with various baking ingredients.

history

STAMAG Stadlauer Malzfabrik GesmbH was founded in 1884 as the first Viennese export malt factory by Jakob Hauser and Moritz Sobotka. After a short time, brewing malt production was considered one of the largest in Europe.

In 1901, the Vienna company achieved a revolution in the bakery trade with the invention of DIAMALT, the first liquid diastatic baking agent. This malt extract was used worldwide for the production of white bread and thus laid the foundation for entering the baking ingredients business. The range was constantly expanded, followed by product developments such as B. the quell flour RISOFARIN (1909) and the dough acidifier PROTOSAUER (1930).

The holding company IREKS-STAMAG KFT. in Komárom / Hungary was founded in 1989. In 1998 STAMAG Stadlauer Malzfabrik GesmbH acquired the Graz Steinfeld malt house from the Austrian Brewing Union.

The current product portfolio includes brewing malts, malts and malt extracts for baking, improvers for wheat biscuits and bread, premixes for bread, biscuits and pastries, dessert and decor products, fillings and toppings, glaze masses and couvertures, jellings, puddings and cream products.
