Stammzuchtverein

In the 19th century, an association in which breeders of a breed in a town , a municipality or a larger region was referred to as a Stammzuchtverein was called an association .

The aim of such an association was to improve the animals of the breed through breeding . This goal was essentially achieved by keeping good male animals and selecting the animals.

The parent breed clubs were forerunners of breed associations .
