Stan Borys (* 3. September 1941 as Stanisław Guzek in Rzeszów ) is a Polish rock singer and songwriter.

Borys began his career as a member of the groups Blackout (1965-1967) and Bizony ( 1968-1970 ) before releasing his first solo album Krzyczę przez sen in 1970 . In 1972 he took on a leading role in Janusz Zaorski's film Uciec jak najbliżej and contributed to the film music. In 1973 he took part in the Polish rock musical Naga . His second album Szukam przyjaciela (1974) contained two songs with which he won prizes at international festivals ( Jaskółka uwięziona in Sopot , Wierzę drzewom in Athens ).

In 1975 he emigrated to the USA and continues to perform at festivals, musicals and solo concerts. His works from the 1960s and 1970s have since been rearranged and re-released on several best-of albums.

Prizes and awards

  • 1st prize for "Best Interpretation" at the 13th Sopot Festival 1973 (with Jaskółka uwięziona )
  • Gold medal at the 5th Singing Olympiad in Athens (for Wierzę drzewom )
