Standard-Triumph (Eire) , previously Standard Motor Company (Eire) , was an assembly plant for motor vehicles and thus part of the automotive industry in Ireland .

Company history

The company was founded in Dublin in 1958 after the British Standard Motor Company took over McEntagart Bros. The assembly of automobiles continued. The parts came from Standard, Triumph , Peugeot and Rover .

On January 1, 1970, British Leyland Ireland was established for the Rover and Triumph brands. This was the successor company.

vehicles

Only the Standard Ten from the period up to 1959 has survived.

The Standard Pennant was offered as the Triumph Pennant in 1958. The Triumph Herald was assembled from 1959 to 1971.

The Peugeot 403 was assembled for Peugeot (Ireland) from 1958 to 1961 .

Rover originated from around 1959 to 1975. Rover P4 as Rover 80 and Land Rover are named .

Production numbers

In 1958, 120 Peugeot were assembled and 180 in the following year. In 1959 and 1960 there were 240 each. In total, that's 780. The number of registrations is lower, however.

Below are the registration numbers in Ireland for Standard, Triumph, Peugeot and Rover vehicles from the years Standard-Triumph (Eire) assembled them. The figures for the first year also include the assemblies by McEntagart Motors, as splitting is not possible within one year.
