Standard Motor Corporation
The Standard Motor Corporation (abbreviated SMC) is a Taiwanese manufacturer of scooters , quads and off-road vehicles.
history
SMC was founded in July 1993 as a trading company and from 1994 worked as an importer for the German brand manufacturer Kreidler . From 2000, own vehicles were first built for the US market. In 2004, SMC opened its new factory in Kangtien . SMC became known through the Taiwanese scooter export for the German market under the brand name "REX". This made SMC the second largest scooter importer in Germany. The manufacturer SMC is also known above all for its 170 and 250 class sports quads, which in the quads scene are both reliable and tuning-friendly entry-level vehicles. They are imported and marketed by different importers with different labels.
Products
The models differ mainly in terms of appearance and use, with the exception of attachments, identical technology. Due to the widespread use, there are many tuning accessories for the models of the 250 class.
At the same time, however, SMC also produces engines and entire vehicles for other well-known companies. Here one falls back on mature technology. The engines are mostly licensed from Honda and Subaru engines. So is z. B. the engine of the 250 SMC (234 cm³) closely related to the engine of the Honda CMX 250 Rebel .
- Sport Series
- Sports quads with chain drive and rigid axle; No differential, therefore no longer eligible as a VKP in the EU since January 1, 2018 .

- Models BL and SK; STG ("Stinger") models with heart-shaped bumper and low fenders; Model CBW with further design changes (not as 170).

- Model captain; Models New STG, New RAM and New RAM (CGE) with more angular fenders (RAM with low fenders); New Stinger (CJE) model with V-shaped bumper and other design changes.
- Are sold in Germany under the name "Trasher".
- Model series 500/503 (with 499 cm³ displacement)
- New RAM 500 model; New RAM 503 model (lowered).
- Were built until 2017. Are sold in Germany under the names "Canyon" and "Trasher".
- With continuously variable automatic transmission (CVT)
- All engines are liquid-cooled; were sold in Germany under the name "Bronco".
- Model series 250/300/320 (with 249/288/312 cm³ displacement)
- "Captain", "New RAM" and "New STG" models.
- Model series 303/323 (288/312 cm³ displacement)
- Models "Captain (CEJ)", "New RAM (CGJ)" and "New Stinger (CJJ)"
- Utility Series
- Partly all-wheel drive ATVs with 163/288/312/675 cm³ displacement.

- One and two-seat karts with 49, 96 and 163 cm³ cubic capacity; multiple scooters; two motorcycles with 125 cm³ displacement.
