Location catalog

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

A location catalog is a library catalog in which the publications of a library are listed in the same order in which they are also displayed on the shelves (at their location).

A location catalog can be used to assign new signatures, but is also used to revise the library holdings (this is why the price and date of purchase are often noted on the relevant index cards) and as a loan directory . If the publications at your location are not based on the date of access ( Numerus Currens ), but rather according to a system, the systematic order can automatically be found in the location catalog. One then speaks of a systematic location catalog or a location-based systematic catalog.
