Stanley Gibbons Ltd is a London based company specializing in philatelic products. It trades in stamps , accessories for philatelists and regularly holds stamp auctions.

The company was founded in Plymouth in 1856 by philatelist Edward Stanley Gibbons . The modest stamp dealer was in the pharmacy of his father. The rare triangular stamps from the Cape of Good Hope provided the impetus for the professional trade in postage stamps. Edward Stanley Gibbons happened to come into possession of numerous copies and wanted to sell them to other collectors. In 1874 the business was finally relocated to London. Edward Stanley Gibbons built it into one of the world's leading philately companies in the years that followed. In 1893 another move took place in central London, where the company is still today.

The name Stanley Gibbons is known to philatelists mainly thanks to the Stanley Gibbons catalog . This is the oldest stamp catalog in the world that is still published. The reference work for philatelists has been published regularly since 1865 without any notable interruptions.

In addition to its stamp catalogs, the company publishes the philatelic trade journal "Gibbons Stamp Monthly" every month, which also enjoys international acclaim.
