Star-Spangled War Stories
Star Spangled War Stories (dt. Sternengesprenkelte [d. H. In the US national colors held] war stories ) was the title of a comic book series by the American publisher DC Comics published 1952-1977.
Star-Spangled War Stories emerged in 1952 from the Star-Spangled Comics series , the numbering of which continued the series. The series, in which war stories of various kinds were told, reached more than 200 editions. The artists who worked on Star-Spangled War Stories included authors such as Robert Kanigher - who also acted as editor of the series - David Michelinie , Ed Herron, Bill Finger and Bob Haney , as well as the cartoonists Jerry Grandenetti, Neal Adams , Ross Andru , Gene Colan , Mort Drucker, Mike Esposito , Russ Heath , Carmine Infantino , Bernard Krigstein, Joe Kubert , Leonard Starr and Curt Swan .
The Star-Spangled War Stories feature series included Mlle. Marie , which dealt with the adventures of a French Resistance fighter in World War II, The War that Time Forgot , Enemy Ace and The Unknown Soldier .
The series was finally discontinued with the number # 204, but continued indirectly because the series The Unknown Soldier took up the numbering of Star-Spangled War Stories whose first issue appeared under the number # 205.
In 1969, Star-Spangled War Stories won the Alley Award for Best War Series.
